EDG's experience in pipeline SCADA systems includes such companies as Explorer, Alyeska, Trans-Nigeria where key benefits for pipeline owners are found in automatic inventory control, loss control through leak detection and improved cash flow via automated billing. The modern refinery handles such a large variety and volume of products that a Distributed Control System may return the investment in one year or less. Here the EDG Project Book includes a DCS system for tank level gauging of 200 tanks in the Phillips Petroleum Company Sweeny Refinery Complex. EDG has also engineered Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCS) for the automatic control of nine boiler furnaces in Phillips' Petroleum Refinery in Kansas City. In the Upper Zakum Field of the Arabian Gulf, EDG engineered one of the largest offshore projects in the world. The system can accommodate 500 wells, 80 platforms, and production planned to exceed 500,000 bpd of crude oil. In this undertaking the SCADA system provided remote control of oil and gas production, separating and processing, gas lift and water injection, monitoring of pipelines, storage, tanker loadings and metering.

EDG has undertaken many gathering centres using DCS and SCADA systems in places such as North Africa and the Arabian Gulf. Similarly tank storage systems, metering systems, export terminals and product control systems have been implemented in the Middle East, Far East, North America and North Africa while Fire and Gas and Emergency Shutdown Systems have been implemented on more than 160 platforms.
